FAQ
Asked.
Answered.
The quick version of everything people ask before they leave their tile. The fine print lives in our Terms and GDPR policy.
How can I look up other participants?
There is a search button at the left of your screen. There, one may look up people by name, by hashtags or by words from participant personal statements.
Do I need to subscribe before my photo enters the mosaic?
For anyone to add a photo, one must have first logged in, through one of the popular social logins (Facebook, Gmail, msn, etc). Participants are also required to accept our Terms and Conditions and have accepted our GDPR policy. Please note that icons4good does not maintain or possess any proprietary database with participant details.
What photos are appropriate?
All photos must meet decency criteria and are cleared after they go through an approval process before becoming integrated in our permanent mosaics. Users are welcome to upload their selfies, or other saved photos of theirs (yes, also with filters, if desired), or anything creative such as stylized messages that support the theme of the mosaic and our supported cause. Foul wording, indecent poses, controversial statements are not appropriate.
Can I add a personal statement and a video?
We give participants the option to add: (a) a photo or a video (through YouTube or one of the other clip platforms), (b) a positive personal statement, or a statement of support for the cause of our Tribute, (c) appropriate hashtags through which they will be searchable.
Is the theme of the mosaic permanent?
Occasionally we may run contests for a renewed artwork theme open to all. The new emerging theme will greatly be influenced by participant vote.
How else can I see the mosaic?
Our mosaics are visible through the use of Augmented Reality on specific locations with designated geo-coordinates, where they reside. As a general rule with just few exceptions, we only grant viewers who are present on the location the privilege to add their photos in the mosaic. However, the mosaic without the AR can be explored via any computer. Simple visitors are welcomed to add their likes on participant photos.
Can I share my participation in this Tribute mosaic with my friends on social media?
Becoming included in our mosaics is a privilege and an achievement that is granted to only few. It is a deed of pride and it is natural that it should be celebrated with a post on social media.
Is it free to participate in the mosaic?
Yes. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, becoming part of the mosaic is free. At times however, for participant names to remain searchable may require participants to repost their participations to promote the campaign message.
Who owns my photo?
As stated in our Terms and Conditions that all participants accept prior to their participation, the submitted photos remain the property of submitters, who also bear the responsibility on the content of what they submit and have sought the concurrence of all individuals portrayed in the photos. Submitters only grant us the right to include their photos in the mosaic and make it publicly visible along our routines.
For how long will my picture and statement remain in the mosaic?
Unless flagged or deemed inappropriate, the photos remain in the mosaic indefinitely. However, they may not be searchable forever, if the submitter does not periodically renew their interest through responding to our calls for new reposts of the participation in social media.
What is your GDPR policy?
We are fully compliant with GDPR requirements as stipulated by law. All participants are required to have accepted our GDPR policy prior to submitting their photos.
Can I later remove my photo if I changed my mind?
Yes. Participants may ask that their photos be removed by emailing us at info@icons4good.com. Removing a photo may take a little bit of time as it is done in batches.
Do you have a give-back-to-society policy?
We are strong believers on making a positive impact whenever we can. We work closely with local communities to contribute and support them in good initiatives that make our world a better place.
How may I find out about other similar installations of icons4good around the world?
We occasionally work with popular apps that support our causes and have agreed to send push notifications when their users come in proximity to one of our installations. We are also working on creating our own app that will do just this: notify users who have opted in to receive such notifications.
